Description

“Imagine what would happen if all the separate movements for climate justice, racial justice, ending sexual violence and developing new forms of economy could … could come together to articulate a shared vision for a future that is more compelling to people than remaining in the current broken system. This is what our planet needs now.”

Kosmos Journal

There are just a few seconds left until midnight. The foundations of our planetary life system are under extreme threat: the purity of water and air, the abundance of life in the oceans, the balance of the climate, the existence of forests, the diversity of ecosystems, and above all, the presence of love and solidarity among human beings.

This book features women and men from all over the world who, despite everything, do not give up. They build autonomous communities, create livelihoods for whole regions, fight against the destruction of forests and the construction of dams, work for the restoration of natural cycles, green deserts and make soil fertile again. They turn slums into ecological neighbourhoods, create new school systems, refuse to believe in the concept of enemies, develop global peace strategies and build social systems for the healing of love.

They know that we can only master the challenges of our times when we unite. It’s only by standing together that we’ll be able to defend what lives, what is sacred, both inside and outside ourselves. Defend the Sacred!

Their contributions testify to a power which is in the hearts of all people. The main aim of this book is to awaken and strengthen this power in more and more people around the world.

What is sacred?

Some of the authors of this book give an answer to this question.

The Grace Foundation is working together with other organisations and individuals to initiate a global system change: from the system of war, exploitation and environmental destruction into a system of peace, trust and cooperation with nature. All those who want to invest in a humane, nonviolent culture are welcome to contact us.

The Grace Foundation works in the frame of a global peace plan which is based on building global peace models – so called ‘Healing Biotopes’. In these centres, the foundations of a regenerative lifestyle are gathered, researched and tested in practice. They provide the knowledge for planetary settlements of the future, for communities of humans, animals and nature living together on the basis of trust.

The Grace Foundation supports the creation and manifestation of Healing Biotopes by providing financial resources for education and knowledge exchange. It promotes above all:

  • Ecological and economic sustainability through regional self-sufficiency in water, food and energy

  • Social sustainability through community building based on truth, mutual support and responsible participation

  • Spiritual sustainability through realising human potential in cooperation with the Divine, in gratitude for the miracle of life
